The Steven Grimm Family
Steven Grimm is my third son, and from the very beginning, he was something special.
About a year and a half after Jim was born, there I was again—this time welcoming my third son into the world. For the first time, I got to choose a name simply because I loved it. I chose Steven from the Bible, and a middle name just because it felt right.
He was the prettiest baby I had ever seen. Everyone commented on his beauty—not just how he looked, but the way he moved through the world, even as a child. I was deeply thankful for him then, and I am still incredibly proud of the fine man he has become today.
Who Steven Is
About a year and a half after Jim was born, here I was in the hospital having my third son. How much fun. I get to name this son after anybody in the world. the first one was named after his father;; the second one was named after Jack's brother and my brother. This time I chose a name I liked from the Bible--Steven and a middle name just because I liked it. He was the prettiest baby I had ever seen. Everyone talked about him and how he was absolutely beautiful--not only in looks, but also in just everything he did. I was so thankful for my latest son and so proud of him. He is still beautiful today and I am still extremely proud of the find man he has become.
Shortly after Steven completed fourth grade, we moved to Gaithersburg, MD where Jack became the pastor of the Central Baptist Church. We lived there until after Steven graduated from high school; then Jack and I got a divorce and I moved to Houston, TX.
Work. Passion. Performance.
After working several jobs, Steven went to work for Jack selling home security systems. After being laid off, Steven got a job in sales at Dell Computers and he has been very successful there since then. Steven has two daughters: Brittany who will soon be 33 and Zoey, who is adopted. Brittany lives with her mom in Hayes County, south of Austin and Zoey lives with her mom and dad near Conroe. I am so proud of Steven and the life he has chosen. Like his brothers, his faith is strong and he chooses to live his life Christ every day.

Favorite Memories
I have so many memories of my beautiful son, Steven. Most of them make me feel like a failure as a parent. There was the time when we made our usual trip to the airport to take their father, who was an evangelist at that time, and all of the boys were sitting very nicely in the back seat. On the way home, they were uncontrollable. I thought about it and decided to be like their father--a strong disciplinarian. So, I put my foot down. "The first one of you to act up on the way home will get a spanking, just like your father gives you," I said. Of course, it was my sweet gentle son who acted up. I had to keep my word, I realized. so when we got home I picked up whatever we were using as the latest spanking instrument. It was a paddle of some kind. I spanked Steven much harder and longer than I normally did (like their father), and afterwards, as we both cried, I felt horrible. I decided, at that point, that I was not that kind of parent and never spanked him like that again.
Memory Spotlight
Memory Spotlight: The Man He Has Become I have many beautiful memories of my son, Steven. And I learned many lessons as Steven's mom, especially when it came to his elementary school classes. I was constantly practicing something on Jack's class; then the opposite on Jim's, like, for example, their birthday parties. I took cupcakes to the class room for Jack's first birthday; then invited everyone home for Jim's first. Both of the first two were near disasters, so I did nothing at school for Steven's birthday. I have always felt guilty for not doing anything for Steven's first birthday at school. By the time I was practicing parenting on the third son, I realized it was not easy. Just wait for my parenting suggestions for number four.
